Mykonos-based label and collective Maera Music has put together a first ever Various Artist compilation and a fine one it is too.
Nixxie opens up with Sophia, a deep and slow burning tune that captivates mind, body and soul with its lush drums. Acidfox – Sunrise In Saigon picks up the energy with more edgy percussion and silver snares over a crisp beat. The sombre chords add plenty of emotion then Manuel Fischer’s Meldoria is a tripped out tune with delightfully delicate synths and wispy pads that bring a sense of mystery.
Thabo’s Loophole again ups the intensity with a more potent and physical tech house vibe and The Mekanism shows his class with the tribal chants and fat drum funk of his wild and expressive Yame which will blow up in any club. Dest’s Summer In Calcutta shuts down with frazzled tech house leads and eerie vocals drifting in and out over a crispy beat.
