James Hersey presents the fifth single, “Can’t Say No”, from his upcoming album, “Let It Shine”. This song is based around the empowerment and confronting toxic behaviour in relationships.

Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jeoff Harris (K Flay, Royal & The Serpent),  James spans the bridge between pop and rock with this addicting song. The full album – “Let It Shine” – is due September 15th, and promises nuanced lyrical  themes paired with meticulously hand-crafted neo-vintage pop productions.

Musicality runs through James Hersey’s blood, having started releasing DIY bedroom pop in his late teens and consequently becoming a key name in Vienna’s indie scene. 2015 saw a rooftop performance of his track “Coming Over” gaining viral success with his international debut “Miss You” gaining its second Gold certification just two years later. Fast forward to 2022 and Hersey holds three of such certifications, over 500 million catalogue streams and a packed touring schedule to boot having most notably performed at Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lollapalooza, SXSW, as well as support tours with Milky Chance, Honne, Metric, and Jeremy Loops.

“I wrote this song the day a friend called me at 6am crying on her way to work.  She’d finally reached a fork in the road – it was either her mental health or the  relationship that would survive, not both.” -JH
