We sit down with London-based DJ, producer, Amizonica resident and Bloop radio host Thousand Fingers to celebrate his latest release on Qualista ‘Dame Tu Amor’. We discussnthe release, the inspiration, his studio and more…
Hi! Great to have you here. How has your year been so far?
Hey, great to be back. Have to say it has been a challenging year so far but things are getting better lately so not going to complain.
Tell us about your new release? What inspired it?
Last year, I started working with Amazonico, which gave me the opportunity to dig deep into South American/Latin sounds. It changed my taste in music, and I wanted to embrace this situation by creating something that incorporates elements from Amazonico and reflects my own style.
Tell us about your Amazonica residency? How did that come about?
It started with a referral through a friend, who I worked with in another club before, and afterwards a trial set offered by the group’s global music director Andy. Since October 2022, I have been a full-time resident there. The best part is that while playing Elec-Tropical sounds at their beautiful lounge, OCTO – the club – explores more versatile sounds. As a result, it’s musically fulfilling and keeps me actively venturing into different territories within electronic dance music.
How did you come to land on Qualista?
I sent my track to Anatolia Sessions to get his opinion, and he said it would be a great fit for Qualista, which he co-founded and creatively supports. At that time, I knew Qualista as a beautiful beach club in Kemer/Antalya, and after researching a little bit, I thought, “Why not?”
How did you come to link up with the remixers? Are they good friends, or artists you look up to, or both?
It’s a joint project with Qualista. We both contributed through our connections, resulting in a musically fulfilling project for the books.
What’s your studio setup like? Are you a gearhead?
I keep things simple and functional in Follow The Fingers, and I’m not really a gear head anymore. I used to have a “buying list”, but nowadays I’m more focused on making memories and being outside the studio. I find life itself more inspirational.
What would you say is the special formula for your sound?
I am the special formula 🙂
What tracks never leave your bag?
Ooo, I have some very cool stuff nowadays. Here are my top 3:
1. Mano Tiro – Havana 1959
2. Darmon, Eran Hersh, BLONDISH, Madonna – Sorry
3. &ME, Rampa, Adam Port & Keinemusik – Paris (feat. Starving Yet Full [Bella Boo Remix])
If you could play back-to-back with any artist, who would it be?
That’s a hard question. I have to go through a very big list to come up with an answer.
What does the rest of 2023 have in store for you? What can we look forward to from Thousand Fingers?
I’m working on a bomb that will be released after summer. It’s nothing like what I’ve released before. That’s all I can say for now.
