London-based DJ/producer Farzala is an emerging talent who continues to prove her versatility in the studio. Fresh off the relaunch of her label Sakti Records—marked by the release of her new single Twisted in March—she signals a new chapter for both artist and label, with a slew of material set to drop throughout the year ahead.

We caught up with Farzala to talk about the story behind Sakti’s rebirth, her approach to music production, and the inspirations driving her sound.

1. Hi Farzala, thanks for joining us today! How has your year been so far?

It’s been good, thanks!  Excited about the label and my music.

2. Your latest single ’Twisted’ marks your return to your label ’Sakti Records’. What motivated you to start your own label?

I wanted to have a home and outlet for music that I really love, and it just made sense.  All of the artists I look up to and that inspire me have their own imprint,  and it felt right.  I want to keep evolving, and this is just an extension of that.

3. What would be the perfect setting to listen to ‘Twisted’?

A Festival, I think, sun shining, maybe early hours…..or at an after party

4. You’ve mentioned that Sakti Records is about creating timeless music beyond trends—how do you approach that in your production process?

Great question!  There are some non-negotiables for me, I don’t listen to any music that day, and over a longer time of creating, say a few weeks to a month, I won’t search for new music that I want to play. And yep, that even means not going on my socials too, I find this really helps me make music freely.

5. Who were some of your musical inspirations growing up?

I listened to a lot of different music growing up, so I couldn’t really pinpoint a particular artist.  I think what really inspired me and still does is going to see artists live, that’s just a vibe.  From concerts to small Jazz clubs and intimate venues, anywhere really, it’s very powerful.

6. What advice would you give to emerging female producers navigating the music industry?

As an artist, I just focus on the art itself, and that would be my advice to anyone pursuing anything – everything else is irrelevant.

7. Looking ahead, what can we expect from you and Sakti Records in the coming months? Any exciting projects on the horizon?

More music and new artists are joining us! It’s just the beginning!
