Last year, Tayllor emerged as one of global dance music’s brightest stars, playing on more than a hundred stages across the world and reaching number one on Beatport with his hit, ‘Vagabundo’. We caught up with Tayllor ahead of his upcoming single, ‘Yibona’, with Aaron Sevilla and Lizwi.

Hey Tayllor! Thanks for chatting to Music Is 4 Lovers. How’s your 2024 going so far?

Hello guys; it’s a pleasure and thank you for the interview, we have a lot to talk about. I’ve had a great start to the year; already a lot of bookings, requests and new music on the way.

Tell us about your upcoming release, ‘Yibona’.

Yibona is a collab with my good friend Aaron Sevilla, featuring one Africa’s best singers, Lizwi. It’s a track that we’ve worked on for the past year; we hope that the fans love it as much as we do and that DJs play and support it.

We’re loving the Afro House vibes of ‘Yibona’, it features an amazing vocal performance from Lizwi. How did you establish a collaborative relationship with Aaron Sevilla and Lizwi for this track?

Aaron and me have worked together many times; we have another collab that’s coming out later this year on his label. We’ve been good friends since I remixed his track ‘Santeria’.

‘Yibona’ releases 26th January on the Stereo MCs’ Connected imprint; why did you decide to partner with this particular label?

Connected music is one of the most respected and established record labels in the electronic and Afro house scene. They have a lot of support from fans as well as many major DJs. I decided to partner with them because they’ve been doing a great job in taking care of my music.

You’ve had a great few years as an artist it seems, what would you say have been your career highlights so far?

My career highlights are for sure: my performance at Tomorrowland in Ushuaia, my collab release ‘Solitude’ with kasango and Auguste (solitude was the soundtrack for the famous Hi Ibiza ‘Aftermovie’) and my collaboration with the superstar like Mike.

Your music has a strong Afro House feel, what would you say sets this genre apart from others?

Afro house is here to stay. It has many elements, not only from Africa, but from all over the world.. It’s a genre that continues to develop and stand out with it’s use of organic instruments.

Are there any artists or DJs who have been and continue to be an inspiration to your work?

There are a lot of artists that inspire me, but if I had to pick one I’d say Enno Napa. He has a very unique Afro tech style which I love. Also, Angelos and Da mike have pioneered a style for quite a few years now which I also love.

Can you tell us about any plans for 2024?

Plans for 2024: work hard, make the fans, happy keep developing and growing my career, make more music, perform at more places across the word and perform at more established venues/festivals.
