Guyus Grey returns with this latest EP entitled ‘91’ consisting of four original productions on Downpour Recordings.
Guyus Grey’s previous releases on his Downpour Recordings imprint covers a plethora of sounds that showcase his expanding production capabilities. Following his ‘Rain Summoner’ EP that picked up support from the likes of Gorgon City, James Zabiela, Paco Osuna and many more, Guyus returns to Downpour with his new episodic EP concept titled, ’91’. The first EP is a personal collection of tracks that is reflective of events, moments through history and life experiences that’s shaped his musical philosophy throughout the years.
’91 was recorded on tape and processed through classic analogue outboard gear – ‘March to The Sea’ kicks things off with raw drum work, wavering oscillations and spiralling synth notes recorded on the SE02 and JP08 before ‘91’ fuses alluring looping vocals, uplifting pads in the distance and stabbing acid-tinged modulations.
‘Alien Vampire Hunter’ then deploys machine-like tones, evolving rhythmic percussion and effervescent elements until ‘American Art’ rounds off the pack with hip-hop stylings as the jazz-tinged instrumentals harmonise gracefully with soulful atmospheres.
Guyus Grey ‘91’ drops on Downpour Recordings on 4th October 2019.
