ContirbutorA prolific pairing in Spain’s thriving electronic music scene, Madrid-based Disaia have established themselves as an esteemed act in contemporary house with previous releases on both Riva Starr’s Snatch! Records, and Kevin McKay’s iconic Glasgow Underground, whilst their own imprint, Siena, acts as a platform to promote and expand their own sound, as well as that of rising producers. On 5th of February, the duo made their debut on Hot Creations with their Cubbe EP. Following the release of this huge three-tracker we invited Disaia to pick out 10 tracks that they’re feeling at the moment! Here’s what they chose:
1.) Disaia – Elephant (Original Mix) [Kneaded Pains]
When we made this track we thought of a Festival full of people and how we could make our first “Techno” track but with our personality, we always seek to make people nervous with the drums before it breaks, and create a effect of distress and relief when breaking.
2.) Jax Jones, Au/Ra – i miss u (John Summit Remix) [Polydor Records]
The original track is very good, but the remix of John Summit is another level. We just love it. Lately we are listening and following John’s music, we admire his creative talent and his sound.
3.) Hot Natured & Ali Love – Benediction (Full Length) [Hot Creations]
We really don’t know how to define this work of art, but we were sure that it had to appear on our list, we have been listening to it for years and it really is magical, this is music.
4.) Luis Pergo – Don’t Stop (Original Mix) [SIENA]
We could really include many tracks from Luis, he is a very good producer and we are lucky to have several of his best tracks on our label, his style is very powerful, we have played “Don’t Stop” several times on the dance floor and people went crazy listening to it.
5.) Disaia – Really (Original Mix) [Snatch! Records]
Most of our tracks are full of energy for the dance floor, that is why “Really” came out, based on the idea of creating a different and slower track with which we could warm up the atmosphere and start a set to get the public into the environment.
6.) Superchip – Babidi (Original Mix) [Happy Techno]
Superchip is a duo that we like a lot because they make very fresh and daring music. We have always liked their music. This track has been selected, not only because we love it, also they make us dance with good rhythms and with sung vocals.
7.) Lee Foss, Latmun, SPNCR – Dusk Til Dawn (Original Mix) [Repopulate Mars]
We are huge fans of both Lee Foss and Latmun. This track has the best of both making it a very original and successful fusion. We like that it has those vocals moving in the background of the track and we love the powerful and cracked bass.
8.) Jamie Jones & Harvy Valencia – Electric Mama [Hottrax]
This track is incredible, what a good feeling … we love it, it gives us good vibes and good energy, perfect to make those who listen to it happy. We love both Jamie Jones and Harvy Valencia, it has been years and years since we are listening to their music and we never imagined that this fusion could be so surprising. We hope that this will continue to happen more times for the sake of good music.
9.) Space Future – James (Original Mix) [SIENA]
Let’s all pay attention to the great talent of this new Brazilian producer that we know very little about but his music is enough to know that he can go far with his great work. This track has a very enveloping groove with a kick that breaks everything at its step and a vowel that drives you crazy.
10.) Disaia – The Boy Is Mine (Original Mix) [Safe Music]
We close the list as we started it, with a track of ours that we consider very special for us due to the work and the hours needed to take our own sound, going track by track in order to obtain this result. We tried to make a very powerful track with a vowel special accompanied by percussions that are present throughout the track.
