Hey guys, thanks for chatting with us! How are you both?
Vibe Killers: I’m fine. I recently moved to Phuket, Thailand—a big change in my life. Feeling amazing here, enjoying the nature and the nightlife in this beautiful place. And I can’t wait to play for Paradise at UNVRS Ibiza this summer
Javi Bora: All good, back at it this week. Here in the Balearic Islands, enjoying the travels, DJing around the world, and really looking forward to the Ibiza season —especially excited to play this summer with Paradise at UNVRS Ibiza, which is shaping up with lots of great surprises.
You’ve worked together and been friends for years – what keeps your collaboration feeling fresh?
Vibe Killers & Javi Bora: We’ve known each other and worked together for years, but what keeps it fresh is really our shared passion for music. We constantly inspire each other, push each other to try new sounds, and experiment without limits. Every session feels different because we both bring new ideas to the table, and that energy keeps the collaboration alive and exciting
When you decided to make ‘Bumpy’, did you have a clear idea in mind, or did it come together naturally?
Vibe Killers & Javi Bora: With ‘Bumpy’, it came together quite naturally. We knew the vibe we wanted—something energetic, groovy, and full of character—but a lot of the track evolved in the studio. We really wanted to make a track for Jamie Jones, especially for him, so that was a big inspiration. It was all about feeling the music, experimenting with sounds, and letting the track grow organically. The result is something that feels alive and true to both of our styles.
What made this track feel right for Paradise and for Jamie Jones’ label?
Vibe Killers & Javi Bora: Honestly, that’s really a question for Jamie Jones and his team, but we feel like we achieved what we were aiming for. It’s a track that’s completely timeless, fresh, very dancefloor-oriented, and packed with groove.
After working together so many times, do you feel you understand each other’s strengths in the studio?
Vibe Killers & Javi Bora: 100%. We share a very similar vision when it comes to dance music. We both have very similar roots in house music, and we strongly believe in house with lots of groove.
Has your way of working together changed over the years, or stayed pretty much the same?
Vibe Killers & Javi Bora: It’s pretty much the same. We share the same vision for dance music, for house music, and we work in the same way
How important is testing tracks in clubs when you’re deciding what works and what doesn’t?
Vibe Killers: I think testing tracks in clubs is important, but for me, the studio is where you really feel if a track has that special something. Playing it live is part of the process, but the most important thing is the studio work—making sure it’s a solid, timeless track that will work on the dancefloor.
Javi Bora: I agree with Vibe Killers—usually you can feel it in the studio, when the track is finished. But as the owner of my label, Too Many Rules, and hearing so many demos, I do test a lot of tracks, both my own productions and collaborations. And yes, in the club is when you really see that spark—you know, the moment you think ‘wow, this is it,’ or sometimes realize it wasn’t exactly what you expected. Testing tracks on the dancefloor is definitely a very important part of the process, because at the end of the day, it’s all about the people and their reaction.
With all your experience in the scene, what advice would you give to younger producers starting out?
Vibe Killers & Javi Bora: We’d say, first and foremost, focus on your passion for music. Learn the craft, experiment, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes—that’s how you find your own sound. Stay true to what moves you, listen to a lot of music, and try to understand why it works. And of course, get your tracks out there, test them, and always keep improving. Patience and persistence are key in this scene.
Can you tell us about any exciting plans for the rest of the year?
Vibe Killers: I have several gigs lined up in Asia, starting now with sets in Phuket. Then I’ve got others, including the long-awaited one in Ibiza for the Paradise event at UNVRS Ibiza. On top of that, I’ve got several collaborations with Javi Bora and upcoming releases on different labels that I’m really excited to share with everyone
Javi Bora: I’ve got a very busy schedule with gigs across several continents, and I’m really looking forward to playing for Paradise this summer at UNVRS Ibiza. Without a doubt, it’s the show I’m most excited about. I’m really happy about it. I also have collaborations with Vibe Killers and other artists, upcoming releases on my label Too Many Rules, and a few surprises that I’ll be able to share soon.
