Hey Leo, how are you and how has 2025 started for you so far?

Good good and very good! It started with fun shows in the Caribbean mostly around Tulum, always a pleasant way to go into a new chapter!

Tell us why you started Night Heat Records, what was the aim from the start? Was it a place for your own tunes, to grow a brand that can do parties or something else?

Well I basically started it to make it possible for me to just release any music I wanted without borders or any of those “big” labels telling you what you got to do and what not. Being independent feels good. Because after all they often are just machines in the industry that look for someone to make music for them to make money.

Is the label influenced by any others you grew up liking, not necessarily in terms of sound, but style, scope, approach?

Not really, you could see it as a playground for yourself, to make stuff happen the way you want it. But also, I do help youngsters and new people in the scene to release their stuff on it, because a lot of people want to put music out and just can’t because other labels won’t accept them.

Tell us about your single Sinfo – what inspired it, what was the aim when you sat down to write it?

Oh that was mainly a marching beat I created while I was sitting around in the studio. Just felt like it’s a good dance floor tune with a proper drop in it. When I released it, at first I wasn’t a hundred percent sure if that would reach the market though, but it did eventually, and made it into nice Spotify playlists and curators!

And tell us about Salon Tropical – what’s the vibe there? Why did you start those?

Salon Tropical is literally my baby in the caribbean. I was based for years in Tulum and have amazing friends and a lovely crowd there, which I am still very much connected to. So those events are pure pleasure, to have a good time with all the locals and friends. Drawing the flyers myself, installing the deco, playing music and bringing all the friends together is amazing, to be honest. This is what Salon Tropical stands for 🙂

Does the label relate in any way to the sound of those Salon Tropical parties?

Not really, these are two totally different projects. Salon Tropical is an event, Night Heat Records a label. I try to keep them seperate in any artistic way.

What has the label got coming up in 2025 that you are excited about?

There will be new releases with fresh talents, which is exciting and I hope to give a lot of new folks out there a chance to release their sound! I am also planning to switch up the sound a bit and make it more eclectic, maybe also bring some bluesy, rock or indie tunes to it, who knows!
