Hey Gil! Thanks so much for taking the time to speak to us. How are you?
Doing great! Just came back from playing “Road to Ultra Ecuador” and it was such a special show. I am now preparing to play next week at Djakarta Warehouse Project in Indonesia and am so excited to be playing the Main Stage alongside Anyma!
And how has your 2024 been? What have been the highlights? Any resolutions for the New Year or goals / aims?
This year has been amazing! I got to tour the world together with Afrojack as his opening DJ. Also just had a collab with him a few weeks ago. Next year my focus is on the music and trying to put out as much music as possible.
Tell us about your musical heritage? What drove you towards electronic music and specifically your end of the dance music spectrum?
I always loved music but never knew my way in. I started going to local clubs in Zurich Switzerland when I was about 16 years old. This is where I fell in love with dance music. There was so much energy in the clubs back then so it was a great time to have started my career.
Who were your biggest influences and inspirations growing up and even now to this day?
My biggest influences and inspirations were bands like Coldplay, Muse and The Killers. In the electronic world I loved that DJs were becoming more commercial and getting onto the radio. Acts like Swedish House Mafia, Alesso, Afrojack and Chainsmokers were ones who were paving the way.
You head up your own Breeze Records label. What is the story behind that and what are you trying to portray through these labels? What’s the ethos?
Breeze Records started in Zurich as a party label. I wanted to create a platform for bringing more international DJs to my city. Eventually I needed a label to put my own music out on since many of the big labels were simply not responding to my emails. Since then we have had some releases from so many talented local artists. In the last year I took a break from running the label to focus more onto my heavy touring schedule. Now for 2025 I am happy to be focused on a rebrand of the label and focus on bringing it into the afrohouse world.
Also, what advice would you give to young up and coming producers wanting to start their own label?
I think it is the best way to start. Find a young up and coming label to release on or do it yourself. Aiming high is always good but you need to launch yourself into the music world. I put out so much music when I started because I just wanted to experiment with what worked and what did not. Some of the releases I do regret putting out but I feel like it adds to my history of producing and shows my weaknesses and strengths with growth.
What has been your favourite gig to play so far in your career?
I loved getting to tour with The Chainsmokers in Australia some years ago. It was my first big tour and we got to play in some big venues. Australia is also such a special place to visit as the people are all such music lovers!
What would be your dream gig?
I would love to play at a prime time at Ushuaia. I played there in 2023 but was the first DJ on. My dream is to have that photo with the big crowd there!
What do you do to relax outside of DJing producing?
Two years ago I got into golfing so love to just turn my phone off and go out to play 18 holes. It is my sort of escape from the world.
What music do you listen to outside of the dance music spectrum?
I listen to all kinds of music as I started off as an open format DJ. I listen to a lot of Hiphop and Rnb also in my free time.
What was the last record that blew you away?
Sven Fields latest tunes have been fire. I think he is such a talented up and coming producer and DJ!
