British House duo The Trip have offered up their first single of 2026 ‘House Tool’ out on 29th January. The record will feature on fabric SELECTS VI alongside a variety of talented artists in the underground community dropping next month.

Opening with a groove-laden rhythm, ‘House Tool’ is reminiscent of 90’s underground house music. Choppy four-to-floor beats blend seamlessly with an infectious beat, perfect for the dancefloor. Curating a versatile journey, ‘House Tool’ kicks off the VA compilation with The Trip’s effortless talent.

Speaking about the record, The Trip explains: “We made this track at Oli’s house one afternoon in October. It’s inspired by some of the jacking sounds of the 90s US house scenes. It was made in our usual process – inside the box and with a bunch of samples we found from some old records.

Rooted in UK garage, progressive and 90’s house, The Trip are founders of long-running London party series and label Tesselate. From curating parties for over a decade and producing music immersed in club culture, their sound has been defined by the dance floor. Momentum accelerated through 2024 with releases on Fantasy Traxx and Uncovered, including five tracks featured in Job Jobse’s summer mix. In 2025, the duo was nominated for DJ Mag’s Best of British Breakthrough Producer Award, delivered remixes for Job Jobse’s new label and Palms Trax, and explored collaboration via joint EPs with Papa Nugs and Demi Riquisimo. Alongside this, they released their solo EP Clubdance2025, appeared on Mixmag Lab, and recorded mixes for Feel My Bicep and BBC Radio 1.

Since its launch in 1999, London’s legendary nightclub fabric has been at the forefront of electronic music, showcasing trailblazing artists week in, week out. The club’s musical identity extends across fabric Records and its three imprints: fabric Originals, FABRICLIVE, and Houndstooth, each reflecting the cutting edge of underground sound. With the launch of fabric SELECTS in 2022 under the fabric Originals imprint, the label takes a fresh approach to the club’s musical curation. Moving away from traditional DJ mixes, the series focuses on original tracks from both established and emerging underground artists. Each volume is carefully curated to capture the energy, diversity, and momentum of the dancefloor, offering a snapshot of the current scene through fabric’s ears rather than a single DJ’s set.

The Trip sets the precedence with grooving house cut ‘House Tool’, offering up a taster of what’s yet to come.
