BLAYNEE is a London-based artist who moves between breaks, house and hip-hop with a keen focus on rhythm, atmosphere and bass. Formerly living in the North-West, he played notable venues such as 24 Kitchen Street and Meraki but is now making moves in the capital with an instinct for contrast and texture. While he’s just beginning to release music, his years of DJing and producing have already led to meaningful connections in the grassroots scene. His hugely impressive debut single was produced in his bedroom using his MASCHINE.
The smouldering ‘SHE DON’T KNOW’ is a break-led gem that captures the energy of UK club culture through the story of a girl lost in the feel of the dance on a night out. It’s emotionally and physically intense with its driving drum patterns and punchy minimal bassline. The sultry R&B vocal is delivered with plenty of power and intent, as well as great control, and serves as an impassioned cry that pans around the mix. Meanwhile, smudged synths inject heat, and amped-up hi-hats keep the pressure rising.
