Hot shot out of Australia, Little Fritter, has been busy making a name for himself with recent releases on Hot Creations, Club Bad and own his own imprint Need2Freak. The DJ/producer, known for his high energy, feel-good house sound, now lands on Paradise Music with a sizzling new single, ‘Da Phunk Within You’. Ahead of a busy festival season for we sit down to discuss all things music.

Hi welcome to Music Is 4 Lovers, how are you doing?
Heyyyy thanks for having me guys, all is lovely at my end 🙂

Little Fritter is a unique name, where did it come from?
Its a nickname I got from the surfing community growing up as a kid.. basically I was a fruity young chap. I always wore bright colours, I wasn’t the tallest kid and I resembled a pineapple fritter haha its kinda weird but that’s pretty much came about.

Your sound has been described as ‘high-octane’, how would you personally describe your music style?
For sure my style has a lot of NRG to it, its definitely raw and heavily influenced by the 90’s but most of all i love being unpredictable in my sound because for me that’s what keeps things really interesting, i love the challenge of making and playing different genres.

Your latest release ‘Da Phunk Within You’ marks your debut on Jamie Jones’ Paradise Records, talk to us a little bit about this record, is there a story behind the track?
I specifically wrote this track to play over the Europe summer, being based in AUS its something i look forward too each year and it really fuels my creative soul. I think you can really feel the warm, groovey summer vibes in this one.

Where do you most often find inspiration for your music?
Mainly i get inspired by Djs / Producers / Parties who are being creative with their approach and not just playing it safe / doing the same same… doesn’t have to be miles off or anything just crew keeping things fresh in the industry, moving with the times, embracing new things and not staying in one lane.

You’ve just come off an Ibiza residency with fellow aussie DJ and friend, FISHER. How was that?
I mean its almost impossible to have a bad time in Ibiza let alone hanging out with my best mate and being involved in all the amazing stuff he’s doing , its best ever 🙂

What’s the community like in AUS, is it tight knit? How does it compare to other places you’ve been / lived?
Yeah the community in AUS is strong, the whole electronic music scene here is thriving which is really cool to see, more open minded / educated kids than ever so its levelling up on the international scale for sure.

You’ve got a busy festival season approaching in AUS, with Wildlands, Beyond the Valley and Lost Paradise, what one are you the most excited about and why?
Its going to be a wild run of festival shows!  i’m excited for all of them for sure, it will be my first time playing Wildlands and BTV so that’s going to be fun but yeah Lost Paradise is probably the best festival ive played previously so there’s a heap to look forward to.

You’ve been known to throw a party or two yourself over the years with Me & You, GOGO TROPICO and Need2Freak, what’s the secret to throwing a perfect party?
The crew is super important, people who are invested in what your doing and not just there to get twisted. Using unique locations is the other one, i love giving people that new exciting experience because it creates a different buzz, going the extra mile to find and properly plan something special is 100% worth it

When you’re not djing, producing or partying, what do you like to do with your time?
Im a dad of 3 beautiful kids so hanging out with them and my wife, we are always adventuring, surfing and fishing, we are lucky enough to live in one of the most amazing places in the world here on the east coast of Australia.

What are three up and coming artists in the scene you can put us on to?
Well i actually run an agency over here under our NEED2FREAK brand, we’re starting small and focusing on talent who come through our stables. We have signed 3 artists that are all super talented and on the up, Trance Mums, Shimmy & Sadboy.

What have you got coming up that we should know about?
Im about to do a run of my own headline / curated shows in Melbourne , Sydney and Brisbane which is super exciting and kicks off in late October.
