French-Congolese producer/DJ KARABA has shared her new Tides (Remixes) EP out now via ONErpm. This new collection brings together eight fresh interpretations from rising and established producers, including South African producer 40D, Limpopo-born beatmaker Afro Exotiq, Zimbabwean musician Bantu, German-Nigerian DJ JAMIIE, Johannesburg-based producer Unique Paballo, and Moroccan native Walid Martinez. The EP also features two bonus remixes from Mozambican act Carpotxa, exclusively on Beatport, and Cameroonian-born creator KMNI, available on SoundCloud.
With the remix EP, KARABA steps into the role of curator, extending her sonic vision by spotlighting a global network of Afro-rooted sounds. Each artist brings a distinct cultural lens, weaving together Afro Tech, Afro House, and Melodic Afro styles that reflect the diversity of the diaspora. From the deep, percussive layers of Bantu’s rework of ‘Into The Sea’ to Afro Exotiq’s rhythmic restructuring on ‘Surfacing’, the project reframes KARABA’s original concept through a shared Afro fusion dialogue. Jamiee’s hypnotic take on ‘Siren’ and Unique Paballo’s driving ‘Dark Waters’ remix push the dancefloor into darker territories, while Walid Martinez delivers a textured reimagining of ‘Into The Sea’ that bridges North African influences with contemporary club rhythms.
“Since releasing my Tides EP in June, I’ve carefully selected producers whose sound I admire and whose approach to music inspires me, to reinterpret each track. The Tides remix project brings fresh perspectives, same energy, and a journey through the depths of Afro house and tech.” – KARABA
The Tides (Remixes) reinforce KARABA’s place as a tastemaker shaping the soundscape of Afro-inspired electronic music. By curating a lineup that spans diasporas and genres, she underscores the connective power of rhythm and identity across borders, positioning Afro fusion not only as a sound but as a global movement.
French-born, Quebec-raised female producer/DJ KARABA is redefining the sound of the underground. Formerly a professional dancer who toured with Drake, Camilla Cabello, Selena Gomez, and Chris Brown, KARABA’s approach is influenced by her unique understanding of movement and culture. Looking for a career shift, she seamlessly translated her lust for rhythm and dance to the decks, and quickly garnered accolades including her first Juno Award nomination in 2024 for ‘Underground Dance Single of the Year’ with her breakout hit ‘Mad Mess’.
This year, KARABA continues to shape the Afro house landscape following the release of her third EP Tides. Between the cover of Spotify’s Fresh Finds Canada and performances at Boiler Room and EDC Las Vegas’ first-ever UBUNTU stage, KARABA has cemented her role as a cultural bridge and leading voice in the global dance movement.
