Marseille-based pairing Yungness & Jaminn have established themselves as key players on Loco Dice’s SB Recordings since its launch last year.

Now the label favourites return with a two-track EP showcasing punchy drums, vibrant flute and panpipe melodies, punctuated with a rumbling bassline.

Here to talk to us about their latest release, ‘Windy Chant’, the South of France pairing shares their inspiration behind the tracks and more.

Hey guys! Welcome to Music Is 4 Lovers; how’s life?

Yo guys! Life for us is like this: making beats and then working at our own individual jobs for the moment. And, of course, preparing for the summer months.

This month, you returned to Loco Dice’s SB Recordings with a brand new EP, ‘Windy Chant’. Could you give us a deep dive into this release?

We actually made this track two years ago, and when we sent it to Loco Dice, he began to play it all around the world. It’s been crazy to see the reactions on this one!

You’ve become central to SB Recordings’ output following a solo EP and a collaboration with Chicks Luv Us; we’d love to have an insight into how your involvement with this imprint developed.

Loco Dice has supported us for many years now, so it’s natural for us to keep sending our music to his label. We love the brand and what Loco did with SB Recording, and we hope to continue to work with the team!

Were there any particular pieces of kit that you used to produce ‘Windy Chant’?

We were looking for a flute sample to complete the track we were making, and we actually found that loop deep in my computer. So, to be completely honest with you, we don’t really know where it came from!

How has the record going down in your sets, and who else has been supporting it early?

During our sets, both versions have always given us good vibes. Initially, we only sent it to Loco Dice early, so he has been the only person with the record until recently, but we will now see who will play it.

Taking things back to the start of Yungness & Jaminn, tell us about how your duo came to be?

We met each other ten years ago. We had some friends in common, and we were both already producers individually, so it came naturally to us to form a duo.

What’s the best decade of music for each of you and why?

We were both born in the 1990s, so the most important decade for us was the 2000s when we were kids!

With summer finally here, do you have any plans you can tell us about?

We’re really looking forward to having many parties in the South of France this summer with our Encasa Music team. It’s going to be fire!
