Madrid-born producer BizZa makes his debut on Dennis Cruz’s BotaniQ with Origins Of Vibe EP, delivering a playful, groove-driven release built for the dancefloor. Following the release, we caught up with BizZa to talk about the EP and his next steps.

What first inspired you to start making music?
Without a doubt, it was to advance my professional career. All the artists were releasing tracks that I played every weekend, and I always dreamed of playing my own music, so I decided to get to work.

You were born in Madrid and are now based in Barcelona: has Spain influenced your sound and the way you approach music?
It has always influenced me because I am Spanish. Despite my versatility, I try to incorporate the warmth that we Spaniards have when it comes to making music.

How would you describe your creative process when you’re working on new material?
My creative process is really very simple. I try to flow and let myself go without paying attention to any other artists or trying to make it sound like anything else. I just try to be BizZa and sound the way I want to at any given moment.

Do you usually work quickly in the studio, or are you one of those who prefers to let ideas mature over time?
I try to be very quick, because if my enthusiasm or motivation for a project cools off, I never finish it… that’s why I always try to finish it. If there’s a project I don’t finish, I never open it again.

‘Origins Of Vibe’ marks your first release on BotaniQ. What made this EP feel like the perfect fit for the label?
It was a completely new sound, more sentimental and special, which brought to life a new vision of BizZa in house music.

What usually inspires you when you feel creatively blocked?
Walking and listening to other genres of music always inspires me.

How do you decide when a track is truly finished?
When I test it on the dance floor, the vibe I get from the crowd is good. If they dance, it’s good, haha.

What have you learned about yourself over the years of making and releasing music?
Above all, that I have to trust myself, my vision and my sound. Just because a label tells you that they don’t feel it for them, it doesn’t mean that someone else won’t like it either 😉

How do you handle feedback, whether from DJs, labels or the public?
Always positively. When someone takes a minute of their time to give you feedback, regardless of whether it’s good or bad, you have to feel privileged.

Outside of music, what influences your way of thinking or creating?
Above all, if I’m happy about something that makes me happy, or if I’m sad for any reason. I consider myself a very sentimental person.

Do you have any exciting plans for this year that you can share with us?
I have lots of plans, especially visiting new countries and making my debut on new record labels such as Cecille Records, LTF, Machaca la Membrana, among many others, hehehe 🙂
