Ardalan teams up with Senegalese-American artist Marieme for the new single ‘I AM’, the seventh release to emerge from the Flight Week writing camp series, out now via Dirtybird.
‘I AM’ centers on a propulsive groove that drives a striking vocal-led club record. Built around tribal-inspired drum patterns and tightly clipped percussion, Ardalan’s production leans into rhythmic pull while Marieme delivers a snappy, self-assured topline that gives the track its femme-forward edge. Her commanding vocal presence cuts through the drums with attitude and precision, locking the record into a confident, dancefloor-ready stride.
The track took shape during Dirtybird’s Flight Week writing camp, where Ardalan and Marieme connected in a fast-paced, collaborative setting designed to bring together artists across the label’s extended community. The session’s spontaneous energy carries through in ‘I AM,’ capturing the creative freedom that defines the series.
Ardalan has been part of the Dirtybird crew since the early days, going from BBQ attendee to label signee. In 2010, he made his debut with ‘Mr. Spock’ alongside Justin Martin, followed by EPs like 2016’s Thunderdad and 2018’s Escapade with Walker & Royce. By 2019, Ardalan had cemented his place as a Dirtybird regular with the release of his debut album Mr. Good. Ardalan participated in Dirtybird’s 20th anniversary celebrations last year with a new single ‘Drip (Sweat)’ and sets at Dirtybird Campout x Northern Nights Music Festival. ‘I AM’ is Ardalan’s second Flight Week release following ‘Spiraling’ with SHADED, Black V Neck, and Life On Planets.
Marieme is a Senegalese-American singer and songwriter known for her bold vocal style and growing presence in the electronic scene. Her previous collaborations with Bedouin and Spencer Brown made her a natural fit for the Flight Week writing camp. ‘I AM’ marks her second appearance in the series following ‘Stuck To The Floor’ with n808.
