Los Angeles label Sol Selectas Records is never far away from the top of the Beatport charts. They turn out hot tunes that really find favour with a great and in the know crowd of DJs and dancers. Now they do the same again here with a new EP from Sydney based duo Uone & Western. Their tunes come in the form of two originals and then they get remixed by Jonas Saalbach and Dreems.
My pick of the bunch of tracks is actually the Dreems remix of Tribal Paradise, which is full of fat and wonky synth lines that are raw and smooth in equal measure. The original version of the track is a deep and afro tinged tune with rubbery kicks and nice vocal chantings. It is lively and upbeat and perfectly emotive. Gold Sachs River is the other original and is driven by darting bass lines. It has loose hip swinging claps and cosmic synths that all help make it pop. Then it is remixed by Jonas Saalbach and in that instance is a deeper, mother thing for late nights and intimate dance floors.
