London’s Riva Starr is at it again, with a banging new release for your eardrums. Consistently cranking out hot tunes, he delivers four unique tracks kicking off his first EP of the year, The Basement Shit EP, via his renowned Snatch! Records imprint.

After seeing much success in 2016 with a slew of releases on prominent labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations, Cajual Records and Moon Harbour Recordings, the Italian-bred artist continues to climb Beatport charts, securing a Top 10 spot within Beatport’s Tech House artists of the year, in addition to maintaining the #1 spot for his killer remix of Groove Armada’s “Superstylin’.” This year appears to be no different, as he just keeps bringing the heat.

Tech-House meets Hip-Hop in this EP. “The Basement Shit” opens up the release, with heavy, commanding bass, punchy vocals, intertwined with some trippy, warped soundscapes, which gradually build the track into a full-force, dance floor explosion. UK-based producer, Skream, puts his magic touch on the remix, by maintaining the raw sound of the original, while boosting the tempo and steering the track into much techier territory. The second original is embedded with plenty of that feel-good, jazzy flair. “The Flame (Back It Up)” boasts a deep, penetrating bassline, crisp percussion and soulful vocals that’ll certainly get those bodies groovin’. In addition to the originals and Skream’s remix, a special DJ Tool version is included, perfectly completing the package.
