Jimbo JamesNottingham native, Latmun, is known for keeping peeps on their toes, whether it’s in the studio, rockin’ a dance floor or chillin’ with his mates. His groovy interpretation of house and techno injects itself directly into his original tunes, remixes and DJ sets.
Over the past two years, one can find Latmun in the catalogues of a handful of today’s most prevalent labels; such as Steve Lawler’s VIVa Music, Leftwing & Kody’s Lost Records, Max Chapman’s Resonance Records, and Mar-T’s Wow! Recordings. His chart topping tunes have made it into Beatport’s top 20 tech house tracks twice, and his latest VIVa Music EP hit #4 on the Top 100 Tech House Release chart.

Interview with Latmun
How did you first get introduced to underground dance music? What is the most challenging part of becoming a full-time producer?
My first introduction to electronic dance music (semi underground at the time) was probably when I first discovered a Leftfield album my parents owned, I listened to it and liked it so much that I turned the volume up until the speakers ended up blowing haha. My proper venture into underground dance music was when I started regularly attending Stealth in Nottingham, my hometown in the UK.
What has been the most exciting turning point of your career so far?
The most exciting progression has been the fact that the gigs have become regular and international. This has really given me the opportunity to refine my style of djing and play to a wide variety of crowds, learning a little more about the art each time.
Where is your home base? If someone were visiting there for the first time, what clubs and/or parties and/or restaurants would they want to check out?
If I have a weekend in my hometown of Nottingham, UK my evening would first begin with Wagamoma’s (I am obsessed with it haha), I would then walk around the corner to a small bar called Ride with a load of mates to get the night started, moving onto Stealth to hear some great music and catch up with everyone.
What advice would you give to an aspiring producer?
Don’t get too tied up in over complicating the process of making music, I fell into this trap due to reading so much about certain process such as how to compress something for example, and then spending more time trying to do that than write a piece of music.
What’s on the horizon for Latmun the remainder of 2016 and beyond?
I am doing some really exciting tours in some exciting parts of the world that I can’t yet disclose… and also some really exciting releases and remixes. Keep an eye on my Facebook page.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music?
I really enjoy cooking, I’m not anything special at it but I’m working on it! Interesting hobbies fact… I used to do Freestyle Kayaking competitively when I was younger and was actually on the GB Team for 2 years!
What are some touristy things you do while playing in a foreign city?
I always like to eat some food that is either specific to country or even better the city, I feel like it’s a good way to remember somewhere well too. Aside of that I like to just wonder around not worrying about where I’m going and get a feel for the city until I am lost, and then use google maps to find my way back haha.

I made this mix in the evening after a productive day in the studio so the energy is pretty high, despite this I have maintained the rolling feel that I always like to have in my sets. Hope you guys enjoy it.
