Interview with m.O.N.R.O.E.

How did you first get introduced to underground dance music?
I was a huge Daft Punk fan growing up then went to Ultra when I was 15 and saw my first DJ, Carl Cox not knowing who he was at the time. Ever since I’ve been hooked on dance music.

What has been the most exciting turning point of your career so far?
Seeing Richie Hawtin use my track “Kill It” for his promo video at Techno Tacos party at BPM earlier this year. He’s been one of my biggest influences from the start.

What city do you call home? If we were visiting your hometown, what clubs and/or parties would we want to check out? What about restaurants?
I’m from Miami.

Clubs – I’d say Trade (Friday), Bardot, Heart (Friday), Story (Saturday), Space (Saturdayafter story), Tree House (Thursday), Electric Pickle, and Don’t sit on the furniture. There’s probably a few more dope parties I’m forgetting.

Restaurants – Gigi’s, Izzys Fish & Oyster Bar, Yard Bird, Las Vacas Gordas, Joes Stone Crab, Panther Coffee (Best Coffee EVER), Go bistro (a bit far but the ramen is the best in Miami, Get the curry ramen trust me)

Do you have any rituals in the studio?
Wake up put my oil mister on, go get cold press juice and Coffee.

What’s on the horizon for m.O.N.R.O.E. in 2016 and beyond?
Have a few new releases coming out this summer that I don’t want to ruin the surprise! A few interesting collab’s, and thinking of starting a label.
