Brilliant German DJ and producer, Larse, joins us for the 216th Lovecast episode.

Larse first drew our attention in 2011-2012 when he was dropping vibey tunes like “So Long” and his remix for Hollis P Monroe’s “I’m Lonely” on Noir Music. Since then he’s released hits on Suol, DFA, Eskimo, and Defected. We’re especially fans of his smooth monster jam “Beat Goes On” released on Suol in 2016.

Listen to the funk master at work with this latest Lovecast episode full of deep house and disco tunes. Enjoy!

Interview with Larse

How did you first get introduced to underground dance music? What is the most challenging part of becoming a full-time producer and touring artist?
I started buying Hip Hop Vinyls back in the early nineties and also start to deejay a bit here in my hometown Dortmund. In 2000 i get a Radio Show  in Cologne on one of Germany’s biggest Stations. Around that time i first visited the infamous TRIBEHOUSE in Neuss, where all the big players at that time usually had their Gigs. The Upper Floor (House Room) was super fun, Loco Dice had the Residency and i tried to go there as often as i could.

What has been the most exciting turning point of your career so far?
I think there are 2 turning points for me. First when i started the Radio Show in 2000 and then when „The More I Want“ became an international Underground „anthem“ if you want to call it like that. It was 2011 and after that my international bookings started up rising.

Where is your home base? If someone were visiting there for the first time, what clubs and/or parties and/or restaurants would they want to check out?
I live in Dortmund/Germany. I would recommend OMA DORIS & DADDY BLATZHEIM for clubbers, the famous SÜDTRIBÜNE (BVB Signal Iduna Park) for Groundhopper and football supporters, The Japanese Restaurant KYOTO for Suhi-Heads!

What advice would you give to an aspiring producer?
Keep up working on your own style! It’s hard, but to copy somebody else doesn’t make sense.

What’s on the horizon for you in 2018?
Right now I’m working on my next E.P. on SUOL, preparing stuff for a GIG with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra and hang out in the studio with my guys Manuel Tur & Paskal & Urban Absolutes.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music?
There are a few – I love playing with my 4 year old son, I like to go out to the BVB Games with my friends, play some Golf if i got time, just hang out with friends.

What are some touristy things you do while playing in a foreign city?
If it’s possible i go the local football matches, depending on my flight schedule- but this is really fun! Love to explore new grounds.

Dream gig…
I think i need to go to Burning Man someday…

Name one of your go-to tracks…
After all these years “So Long“ still do the job quite good!

Tell us about your mix…
I tried to create a 60 min ride with some Disco, House and Jazzy Vibes. Including tracks by Peggy Gou, Dikkens, Move D, Koji Ono and many more.

Drink of choice…
Local Beer.

CHEERS!
