Spanish duo, Los Pastores, have been splitting their time between Ibiza and Valencia for several years.

Having released music on many tip top labels such as Roush, Deeperfect, Underground Audio, Sanity, and their own label, Oblack, the two continually keep it deep and groovy in the studio.

Los Pastores have enlisted a stellar line-up of artists to contribute to Oblack Label, which just hit its 5 year mark; artists like Mihai Popoviciu, Miguel Puente, Alex Arnout, Javi Bora, Tuccillo, System2, Brett Johnson, Luca Bacchetti, and Neverdogs are just a few in the catalogue.

Keep your ears to the ground for Los Pastores in 2018. Enjoy!

Interview with Los Pastores

How did you first get introduced to underground dance music? What is the most challenging part of becoming a full-time producer and touring artist?
Hey team, we have always been introduced to this musical style thanks to our roots. Before joining together as a duo to form Los Pastores we already performed many times throughout our city under our respective names. Regarding the most difficult part, we would focus on the criticism of the people closest to us. Nobody thinks that today we can live solely and exclusively from music (we refer to family and close people) with which this is a great handicap with which we have on some occasions. Anyway, we think that if someone wants something with all their strength nothing and nobody can influence its materialisation.

What has been the most exciting turning point of your career so far?
We think that our biggest turning point was our first season in Ibiza. It was a great summer in which very pleasant and surprising things happened. Our first vinyl release “Other Sentido EP”, released on our label Oblack, was played and supported by great DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Loco Dice and Ricardo Villalobos. Since then we began to see things in a different way than they had told us and it was a source of extra motivation that has enabled us to sacrifice ourselves and fight for our big dream – “The Music”.

Where is your home base? If someone were visiting there for the first time, what clubs and/or parties and/or restaurants would they want to check out?
Our base of operations has been between Valencia and Ibiza for 4 years, but today we are in Valencia where we currently live and we also have our studio. It’s a small city with a beach and good weather, and that’s something that we like and inspires when we are going to create new ideas in the studio.

If someone were to visit our city, they could see great things and enjoy good gastronomy, since there are very good restaurants inside and outside the urban area.

What advice would you give to an aspiring producer?
This question has been asked to us on many occasions and we always say that we are nobody to give advice haha! As clarification we could say which kind of things work for us or which things we would share from our little experience. Undoubtedly, if someone wants to dedicate himself to production, first of all he has to know that this is what he most desires in his life. It is a very sacrificial world in which at the beginning you have to work very hard in exchange for very little. If you are willing to sacrifice a lot of things to fulfill this dream then the next thing is to get to work very hard, many hours a day in the studio and little by little things will flow. There is no secret, there is no mystery, there is nothing that is not hard work all the time.

What’s on the horizon for Los Pastores in 2018?
This coming year will involve very good projects. At the moment we have EPs signed on labels like Deeperfect, Roush, Oblack, Decay and some other very interesting things that we can not yet reveal. All of them will come with great collaborations and remixes. Regarding our Gigs we have started to  work with a new agency “AL Management” directed by Adrian Lawler. We think that this will be a before and after in our career thanks to the experience behind the management of said person.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music?
Yes we do. We like to do Pilates, enjoy good food and, above all, read good books.

What are some touristy things you do while playing in a foreign city?
Undoubtedly go to good restaurants and take good photos around the city.
