Just when the Wednesday blues started creeping into our system this morning, a new EP from Pablo Bolivar’s Seven Villas imprint made its way onto the Music is 4 Lovers desk that had us jumping out of our seats. This is John Vermont’s debut release, and he has us wondering where he’s been hiding this whole time.

Evanescent ‘ is absolutely brimming with soul and emotion, sparking the fire with a bass line that captures your attention from the very first note. But it is Vermont’s vocal abilities that catapult this track into a league of its own.  With a silky smooth voice reminiscent of Isaac Hayes or John Legend, accentuated with echoing effects that elevate an entire choir behind him, our immediate response was to replay the song again. Label boss Pablo must have enjoyed the track as well, lending his hand to a club inspired remix that kick things up a notch by adding just a little more energy and zest.
