Holding down a residency at one of America’s top nightclubs is no small feat, but Diego Santana has done just that. Resident DJ for the illustrious Beta Nightclub in Denver has been a life altering experience for Diego, which he has taken full advantage of the unique opportunity.

Diego’s deep, dark and groovy style makes him a perfect suitor for Denver outfit P.U.N.C.H.I.S.a brand that has developed into a record label, event production collective and talent agency the past five years; running game not only in the 303 but also the place of their origin, San Francisco.

Besides DJing for some of Denver’s dopest parties, Diego also spends a lot of time in the studio sharpening his production skills. You can find Diego’s original tracks on P.U.N.C.H.I.S., Draft, and Pet Project; with more music on the way!

We’re always stoked to connect to new and interesting Heroes out there in the world and Diego fits the bill to a T. Enjoy this week’s Hometown Heroes episode and read more about Diego Santana in the interview below.

Interview with Diego Santana

How did you get into djing and producing? What is the most challenging aspect you’ve experienced in this industry?
I first got into DJing when I was 14-15 years old, but never really did anything with it–I did it for fun. When I was 18 I bought Ableton and started to learn how to use it from watching friends and YouTube tutorials. The most challenging thing for me is when I wanted to do something with my music and DJing when I was 18 but everything I wanted to do was for 21 and over.

Describe the scene in Denver in five words or less…
Amazing, beautiful, and unique!

Tell us about your residency at Beta. What has been a pivotal lesson for you during your tenure at the nightclub?
My residency at Beta Nightclub started in 2013 thanks to my P.U.N.C.H.I.S. family. I was young and they gave me the chance to play at one of America’s top nightclubs. One of the best lessons I have learned from being part of the club is to be on top of whatever challenges are thrown at me in this industry. Have to stay sharp to keep a residency in a top club like Beta

What projects are in the works?
Right now I’ve been hitting the studio hard. I have a couple releases planned the rest of the year. My friends Cruz Control and Gabriel Tavarez and I just launched our Beyond project here in Denver. We will be throwing events at Beta and all over Denver. We’re having our first show this month featuring myself. Next month we are bringing Amo and Zay de Mello from the label Dissonant.

Dream gig…
All the gigs I have are my dream gigs. I love to play music. But if I had to choose I would love to play at Music On parties with Marco Carola.

What’s the hottest track in your arsenal right now?
Benjamin Damage – 010x (Original Mix)
FIRE!!

Tell us about your mix…
My mix shows the style of electronic music I love–minimal, deep, groovy and dark party music!

Drink of choice…
Water or coconut water. LOL! Not much of a fan of alcohol.

CHEERS!
