Culprit enters the new year with one of its most eagerly anticipated releases yet – the full EP return of Adriatique. The Swiss duo has become one of the label’s core artists in the past 15 months. Their prolific output for the LA-based imprint has included two compilation tracks, a remix of one of Culprit’s signature tunes of 2013 (Edu Imbernon & Los Suruba’s ‘Fayer’) and now a second EP of original material.

Adriatique’s Culprit debut, ‘Face to Face,’ became the label’s significant success story of 2013. From the initial impact of the first EP, through their exciting DJ sets at Culprit’s showcases in Berlin, Miami, Barcelona (off-Sonar) and LA, and now the new ‘Midnight Walking’ EP, Adriatique have become the force helping define the Culprit sound of the future.

‘Midnight Walking’ continues the duo’s subtle evolution that could be heard on their recent Diynamic EP, ‘Lophobia.’ They have confidently delved into their more overtly melodic, emotionally engaging side. Both the title track and the companion Rolling Stone’ show the duo’s developing affection for a slightly darker sonic palette, but still retain their patented warmth of feeling and a knack for big hooks.

The potentially anthemic Midnight Walking features an exceptional vocal from Name One, the UK artist responsible for two memorable collaborations with Maxxi Soundsystem, ‘Regrets We Have no Use For’ on Hypercolour and ‘One in Three’ on Defected. The brooding yet propulsive counterpart, Rolling Stone,’ aims squarely for those 4am discerning dance floors.
